PURCHASE PROCESS
Order Initiation
An order initiation fee of $500 is required to secure a future aircraft. Upon receipt of your payment, you will be assigned an aircraft serial number which will designate your place in the order queue. This nonrefundable order fee is credited against the purchase of the aircraft assigned, or an earlier aircraft if offered and accepted.
Financing is available from several lenders. Aircraft insurance, both liability and hull, is also available. See this page for further details.
Deposit
Between 60 and 90 days prior to completion of the aircraft, payment of a nonrefundable deposit of $1,500 is required. At that time, we will confirm your aircraft registration information and begin planning your preferred delivery date and location. Delivery expenses, if any, will be billed separately. This deposit locks in final aircraft configuration and pricing. Pricing is subject to change at any time prior to full payment of this deposit.
Cancellation
In the event you choose to cancel your order prior to remitting the deposit, or if you are unable to remit the deposit, we will remove you from the order queue. Your aircraft serial number will be assigned to another buyer, and your order fee credit is forfeit.
Final Payment
Approximately ten business days prior to delivery, we will collect your full payment (minus deposit, fees, and prepayments already received). The final payment is made via wire transfer. We can work with your lender (if applicable) to transfer payment. The aircraft buyer is responsible for payment of all required taxes to the appropriate tax authorities.
Delivery
You may take delivery of your aircraft from our facility in Grand Junction, Colorado (KGJT), or we can arrange to ferry the aircraft to you for an additional charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
What form of payment do you accept for the order initiation fee and deposit?
To initiate your order or to pay your deposit, simply mail us a check (personal check, business check, money order, cashier’s check, or other). Find our address on the Contact Us page.
We cannot accept payment via credit card, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any other form of digital payment.
Can my order initiation fee be applied to a serial number different from the one initially assigned?
Yes. The order initiation fee may be credited against the purchase of a lower (earlier) aircraft serial number, if available.
Must I accept an earlier aircraft (lower serial number) if one is offered to me?
No. Aircraft are manufactured in order of serial number. If a buyer cancels their order, that serial number may be offered to you. However, you are not required to accept it. You may retain the serial number originally assigned to you.
Are sales, use, or other taxes collected at time of purchase?
Colorado is a “fly away” state when it comes to aircraft taxation. That is, buyers who are not a resident of the state of Colorado are exempt from taxation by Colorado if the aircraft will be removed from the state. Therefore, we do not collect tax from non-residents. The buyer is responsible for payment of any applicable taxes to the appropriate tax authority in their own state or location of residence.
Spirit Engineering may be required to collect sales tax from residents of the state of Colorado.
May I transfer my assigned aircraft serial number to another buyer before purchase?
No. Aircraft serial numbers are assigned to a specific buyer and may not be transferred. If Spirit Engineering offers you a lower (earlier) serial number and you accept it, we will reassign your original (higher) serial number to another buyer.
Will the order initiation fee be refunded if I am unable to obtain insurance or financing?
No. The order initiation fee and the deposit are nonrefundable. Please be prepared to purchase the aircraft before placing an order.
Financing is available from several lenders. Aircraft insurance, both liability and hull, is also available. See this page for further details.
Is the price locked in at time of order?
No. Pricing is subject to change until approximately 60 to 90 days prior to aircraft completion and the full deposit ($1,500) is paid.
May I pay the deposit early to lock in the price early?
No. The deposit is due approximately 60 to 90 days before the aircraft is completed. Spirit Engineering will notify you when your deposit is due. We cannot accept your deposit before it is due.
